With its unique cold weld design, Lokring is making fluid and gas pipeline installations more efficient and cost-effective than ever.
In the modern market, energy projects are complex, and the cost of labour and components is high. That’s why some of the biggest names in oil and gas are turning to Lokring to help dramatically simplify pipework installations.
“Lokring is the only mechanical cold weld for pipe connection available on the market,” Lokring Australia and New Zealand Technical Director Rob Sigsworth told Energy Today.
“With Lokring you get the best of both worlds – the integrity of a shop butt weld, with none of the difficulties associated with hot work and inspection.”
As an ASME B31 code qualified mechanical connector for fluid and gas, Lokring is backed by decades of proof-testing and field experience.
One recent example of this was the installation of a 150m, two-inch stainless-steel pipe for a pharmaceutical API facility. Utilising Lokring and its unique cold weld design, workers were able to install the pipe in just under two hours – a process that with welding would have taken a week.
In another case, a UK oil refinery faced a steam outage that threatened production. Thanks to the quick installation of several hundred Lokring units, the refinery managed to minimise this steam outage to just eight days. There were also zero leaks across the entire outage.
Lokring is not only fast and efficient, but it also presents a safer alternative than hot welding in certain environments.
“Some of the biggest challenges facing our customers is the cost of welding labour, the time taken to complete welding, and the inherent risk of introducing hot work into sites where there is a high risk of fire and explosion,” Sigsworth said.
“Lokring eliminates all of these while maintaining fully welded integrity. You can have your cake and eat it too.”
As the company expands its presence in Australia, more and more energy operators are reaping the benefits that Lokring has to offer.
“We are stocked in Australia to allow for quick responses to customer requirements,” Sigsworth said.
“We can dispatch most items on the same day, reacting to emergencies and breakdowns.
“We pride ourselves on providing not only a best-in-class product, but also best-in-class technical support and after care.”
