Amplitude Energy (formerly Cooper Energy) will undertake exploration drilling in the Otway Basin.
Amplitude has received approval from NOPSEMA to undertake a survey drilling program. The wells will be drilled in Amplitude’s existing licence areas roughly 25–40km off the coast of Peterborough in water depths between 65m–74m.
The exploration program consists of seabed surveys; construction of three wells across the Juliet, Elanora, and Nestor fields; suspension of three wells (Juliet-1, Elanora-1 ST1 and Nestor-1) relevant only if the wells intersect gas resources sufficient for domestic supply; and plug and abandonment of one well (Elanora-1) relevant only if the wells do not intersect gas resources sufficient for domestic supply.
Planned activities will occur within an operational area defined by a temporary 3.5 km radius around each well site, and additional seabed survey areas between the well sites and existing infrastructure.
Each drilling campaign is expected to take up to 60 days excluding environmental and operational delays.
This exploration campaign is part of a larger supply project, aimed at delivering additional gas supply to the east coast market.
