Bechtel takes reigns for Pluto Train 2

KBR awarded Pluto LNG contract

Woodside Energy has handed over the next stages of the Pluto Train 2 project to contractor Bechtel Corporation.

Bechtel are responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of the Pluto Train 2 project.

The $16 billion project is a major construction development in Western Australia that, once completed, will connect Woodside’s Scarborough gas project to its Pluto LNG facility for processing.

The finished project will support the export of around 8 million tonnes from the gas field per annum. Through a new domestic gas production facility, to be built at the Pluto site, it will also deliver around 1400 petajoules of gas to the WA market.

Construction of the project, located in the Burrup Peninsula, is expected to take a total four years to complete.

The Pluto 2 train project aims to secure WA’s long-tern energy needs, as well as unlocking new industrial and downstream processing developments.

It has received recognition from Mark McGowan, the state’s premier, as well as Minister for State Development, Jobs and Trade Roger Cook, the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA).
