BP’s Marine Supply Base, located at Port Adelaide and the first facility of its kind in South Australia, will play an integral role in the operations of BP’s planned GAB exploration program.
Sean Edwards, Senator for South Australia, and Tom Koutsantonis, Minister for Mineral Resources and Energy for South Australia, joined BP and its partners to celebrate this key infrastructure project on-site at the Marine Supply Base.
“BP is delighted to be partnering with ASCO, a company that brings deep, global expertise and Flinders Logistics, a highly respected South Australian business, to develop this key infrastructure,”? said Claire Fitzpatrick, BP’s Managing Director, Exploration and Production, Australia.
“The Marine Supply Base will be used to provide specialist materials to the Ocean Great White offshore drilling rig, store large amounts of equipment, host a drilling fluids plant and provide a dedicated wharf area for supply vessels.”
Ottoway Engineering designed and constructed 10 large bespoke tanks for recycling drilling liquid, with each tank 12 metres high and weighing 20 tonnes.
Other facilities include a pipe storage area for Oilfield Country Tubular Goods (OCTG), a fleet of Swire Oilfield Services Cargo Carrying Units (CCU) and multiple storage warehouses.
