Conference to discuss future of CSG in Victoria

To be held on 6 November 2013 in Melbourne, the conference evaluates land access issues, environmental protection and sustainable land practices with the emerging economic benefits of this industry. Its primary focus is to consider how a future regulatory framework might evolve and to consider the perspectives of different stakeholders.

Through a series of presentations followed by a discussion panel, the conference will address a range of different governance objectives for Victoria.
Issues considered by speakers and panellists include:

    • Comparative regulatory developments in other states, such as New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia.


    • The recently-released draft National Harmonised Regulatory Framework by the Standing Council on Energy and Resources.


    • Environmental issues, such as land access, groundwater depletion and hydraulic fraccing.


    • The suitability of implementing codes of conduct for fraccing, well integrity and land access.


  • Social issues, such as ownership rights and community engagement.
