Cooper Energy has hit a number of production milestones at its Orbost Gas Processing Plant in Victoria.
The team has set a number of new records over the past week, including:
• record 7-day average of 68.0 terajoules per day (TJ/d)
• record 14-day average of 67.2 TJ/d
• record 60-day average of 65.4 TJ/d
• record 90-day average of 60.5 TJ/d.
Cooper Energy acquired Orbost in 2022 to process natural gas from its Gippsland Basin assets for the south-east domestic market. This includes two wells in the Sole gas field, which lie 65km off the coast of Victoria.
The company also operates the Athena Gas Plant in Victoria, a low-cost processing hub for Otway Basin gas. This is backed by onshore and offshore gas fields such as the Dombey gas discovery and the Casino, Henry and Netherby offshore gas fields.
Cooper Energy has plans to develop additional gas reserves in the Otway Basin, which has been approved by NOPSEMA. This includes drilling new wells and connecting them to Athena.
For 2025, Cooper Energy is targeting a group-production run-rate of over 70TJ/d by the end of FY2025.
The company is also looking to increase realised gas prices through increased exposure to spot and peaking gas product opportunities; and to drive further cost and emissions reductions through continuous improvement and efficiencies.
