Denison Gas, a leading gas production and exploration company, has been appointed as the preferred tenderer for three new exploration areas in the Bowen Basin, Queensland.

This appointment comes under the Queensland Government’s most recent petroleum land release.

The new exploration areas are strategically located adjacent to Denison’s existing tenements, allowing for seamless integration into the company’s current operational activities.

The company is now focused on obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals, including from native title parties, to enable the formal issuance of exploration permits for these areas.

Benson Wong, Executive Director of Denison, said the appointment of Denison Gas as preferred tenderer for three new areas is a strong endorsement of Denison’s role in growing gas supplies for the Australian domestic market.

“These new areas will provide natural growth opportunities for Denison, enabling us to continue to support the security of Australia’s energy supplies,” he said.

“As the Federal Government has recently outlined in its Future Gas Strategy, gas has a vital role to play in Australia’s energy transition. This new award will help Denison to continue to play its part.”

According to Denison, it has been operating 14 gas fields, two gas processing facilities, 4 additional gas compression facilities, and a 200-kilometre gas pipeline network connected to the open-access Eastern Australian gas transmission system since April 2019.
