According to Reuters, ExxonMobil is considering an import facility in Victoria while also increasing exploration of the state’s coastline.
It also has plans to develop the giant West Barracouta gas field located in VIC/L1, 6 km southwest of the existing Barracouta platform in the Gippsland Basin.
“Combined with the existing Gippsland resource and infrastructure, an LNG import facility could ensure ExxonMobil can continue to meet our customers’ needs,”? said a statement from the company on Monday.
The proposed facility would be ready by 2022.
ExxonMobil joins AGL Energy and Australian Industrial Energy (AIE) in announcing plans to develop LNG import facilities in Victoria and New South Wales respectively.
