Galilee Energy has shut down a number of wells at the Glenaras Gas Pilot, in order to achieve a more precise calibration of its reservoir modelling.
Two wells are currently operational at the pilot, with Galilee noting its focus to review the reservoir simulation model.
“This is the first such calibration of the wells we drilled in 2022 and is an important step towards validating our reservoir simulation model which is currently being updated,” the company said.
The integrated subsurface model is being updated, along with the contemporary pressure data and Glenaras Pad 3D seismic survey, which has provided key information about the architecture of the Betts Creed Beds.
As the coals are approaching desorption pressure required for material gas rates to result, the new revised modelling exercise is crucial in progressing the pilot into the final stages of achieving commercial gas rates, according to the company.
To support the next stage of the pilot’s activity, the Glenaras Gas Project data room is open with industry participants evaluating the project for potential investment.
Galilee is also seeking additional financial support from the Queensland government as part of the Frontier Gas Exploration Grants programme.
