The Easternwell Rig 101 commenced drilling operations last Friday, marking the beginning of its multi-lateral pilot program in the Glenaras Gas Project.
The approximately six-week program will see Galilee drill three lateral well and conduct a production testing pilot, with the potential to deliver up to 73 PJ/a to the east coast gas market; the start of production is target to begin in early June.
As of Monday 26 March, the well was drilled at a depth of 762 m MD in the 8-1/2 inch pilot hole, with a targeted depth of 1,100 m MD.
Galilee Basin pipeline
In 2017, Jemena and Galilee Energy signed a MoU for the construction of a large diameter pipeline to deliver up to 200 TJ/d from the Glenaras Gas Project to the east coast market from 2022.
Jemena has commenced pre-front end engineering and design (FEED) and is in the process of preparing applications for a pipeline license and environmental approvals.
Jemena is developing two pipeline options: the first being designed to carry gas from the Galilee Basin only (200-300 TJ/d); the second being designed to carry gas from the Northern Territory as well as the Galilee Basin (up to 700 TJ/d).
