GenusPlus has been awarded a contract for Western Power’s Clean Energy Link – North Region project.
The project will include new 330kV and 132kV terminal builds within the existing network to significantly increase transmission capacity and enable new energy sources to come online.
The $270 million contract includes the design and construction of two new terminals at Regans Ford and Eneabba and an associated line, and augmentation of the existing 330kV Northern and Eneabba terminals.
The WA Government has placed significant emphasis on upgrading the state’s main electricity network to boost renewable energy generation. According to Western Power, strengthening the northern transmission could result in a 10‑fold increase in renewable generation for future low-emissions electricity demand.
“Genus has worked with Western Power for many years, and is very pleased to have secured this project and to be able to continue working with Western Power on a project that is very important to WA as it moves towards a clean energy future,” GenusPlus managing direction David Riches said.
“Genus is looking forward to continuing to develop its longstanding relationship with Western Power as a key delivery partner.”
Work will commence in January 2025 with scheduled completion expected mid-2027.
