Gold Hydrogen to progress hydrogen pilot plant

Hydrogen Pilot plant

Gold Hydrogen has executed two memorandums of understanding (MoU) with Wasco Energy and H2Site to collaborate on a natural hydrogen pilot project on the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia (SA).

Together, the companies will develop the design of the plant to be installed on the Yorke Peninsula, depending on the results of Gold Hydrogen’s drilling campaign.

The companies will review the suitability of current hydrogen purification systems to facilitate a saleable hydrogen product to be compressed on site.

In this concept, the hydrogen would then be sold into the local market or used for power generation.

This would enable the potential of the Ramsay area, according to the company, in which the drilling campaign has proven successful results so far.

Drilling operations on the first dedicated natural hydrogen exploration well were first completed in late October 2023, with the well reaching a total depth of 1005m.

Testing and laboratory results measured air-corrected hydrogen at 73.3 per cent at 240m below ground level. These results were consistent with the 76 per cent air-corrected concentration of hydrogen reported in the Ramsay Oil Bore 1 in 1931.

The results also confirmed the presence of a hydrogen play at shallow depths in the Ramsay Project area.
