INPEX celebrates 500th LNG cargo

INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG has celebrated the 500th LNG cargo safely departing the onshore processing facilities near Darwin at the start of April.

Ichthys LNG is a joint venture between INPEX group companies, major partner TotalEnergies and the Australian subsidiaries of CPC Corporation Taiwan, Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric Power, JERA and Toho Gas.

The Ichthys Field was discovered in 2000 and the company celebrated the first gas cargoes in 2018, marking the start of a new era of economic and social benefits for Australia.

Five years later, IPLEX has come a long way.

“This success would not be possible without the continued safe and strong performance of all teams supporting Ichthys LNG, right across the business,” shared the INPEX team.

“With each Ichthys LNG cargo departing to customers across the globe, economic and social benefits flow back to Australia – and INPEX supports the world’s growing demand for energy security.”
