The Clean Energy Council has welcomed Jackie Trad as its new chief executive officer, ushering in the organisation’s next chapter.
Trad, a former Deputy Premier and Treasurer of Queensland, brings significant expertise in energy policy. Her achievements include establishing CleanCo, Queensland’s publicly owned clean energy company, and helping lay the foundations for the state’s ambitious renewable energy and emissions reduction targets.
Her track record also demonstrates a unique ability to unite diverse stakeholders. She played a pivotal role in reforming Queensland’s mining rehabilitation laws, creating a financial assurance scheme to guarantee rehabilitation costs. This effort involved bringing together environmental groups, the resources sector and regional communities to enact world-class legislation that protects regional jobs, preserves the environment and safeguards industry investment.
With over 30 years of experience in public policy, government, membership organisations and advocacy campaigns, Trad’s background is expected to be invaluable as she guides the CEC’s influence in Australia’s clean energy transition on behalf of its members.
