Sue McCarrey has stepped into the top role at the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA).
McCarrey is also a member of the National Association of Women in Operations, National Women in Transport, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration.
Before joining NOPSEMA she spent eight years as chief executive and National Rail Safety Regulator at the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator.
In a post on Linkedin, NOPSEMA’s outgoing CEO, Stuart Smith, offered his best wishes to McCarrey as she takes the authority on the next stage of its journey.
“It’s great to be passing the CEO role onto such an outstanding individual,” he said.
“NOPSEMA’s traditional role as an offshore safety and environment regulator has broadened with increased focus on decommissioning, carbon capture and storage, emissions, and cultural heritage.
McCarrey’s history also includes work with the Department of Education where she worked on Commonwealth state relations.
NOPSEMA welcomed McCarrey, and thanked Smith for his hard work during his time at the authority.
