New wind farm proposed for WA

VIC offshore wind

Zephyr Energy is looking to construct and operate a 79 turbine wind farm near Badgingarra, Western Australia.

The proposed Parron wind farm would have a maximum generation capacity of roughly 489.8MW of renewable energy.

The turbines will connect to Western Power’s existing 330kV transmission network, providing renewable power to roughly 200,000 homes and abating one million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually.

Zephyr has identified a 8527-hectare project area within an agricultural region primarily used for livestock grazing and cropping, which will continue throughout the proposed project lifecycle.

The proposal is currently open for public comment. If approved, Zephyr expects pre-construction to take 12 months; construction to take up to two years; and maintenance and operation to continue for 30 years.
