PTTEP Australasia has had the final, in situ abandonment reports for two wells in the Timor Sea accepted by the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA).
The environment plan (EP) revision accepted by the NOPSEMA covers the decommissioning activities Oliver-2 – located in permit area AC/RL12 – and Tenacious West-1 ST1 in area AC/RL4.
PTTEP Australasia (Ashmore Cartier) is the 100 per cent titleholder of both permit areas.
The areas are are located over 260 km northwest of the Kimberley coastline, WA, and 640 km west of Darwin.
The wells currently remain on the seabed, and the approved EP revision allows for their abandonment in situ.
The decision comes after a dedicated ROV survey in March 2022.
The inspection observed that both wellheads were intact, with no observed leaks and no sign of cuttings piles or debris on the surrounding seabed.
The EP covers no other on-the-water activities. Accordingly, it is considered complete as of the date of NOPSEMA’s acceptance – 23 February 2023.
