In January 2016, the final module of the Gorgon LNG project was delivered to Barrow Island, completing the delivery of all 51 modules required for the three LNG trains. It is expected to ship its first LNG export in the next few days.
Earlier this year, APLNG also successfully exported its first cargo of LNG from its production facility on Curtis Island, Queensland.
Shadow Minister for Resources Gary Gray congratulated two of the LNG plants on their milestone first cargoes.
“Australia is set to become the largest LNG exporter in the world by 2020.
“These projects will be a major contributor to Australia’s continued prosperity through revenue, training, engineering skills formation and community and regional development for decades to come.”?
Mr Gray said Australia now exports gas from the east, north and west coasts – utilising all available technology platforms and pioneering CO2 geosequestration, otherwise known as carbon capture and storage (CCS).
“We have much to be proud of. I congratulate the construction workers, unions and companies for their hard work to achieve this significant milestone.”?
