Top tech company to set up in Victoria

Italian tech company Energy Dome has chosen Melbourne to establish its APAC headquarters, bringing high quality energy storage technology to Victoria.

Energy Dome’s CO2 battery can store large amounts of intermittent renewable energy, which is well-suited for regions transitioning away from coal-fired power and with significant industrial energy demands.

The company is also working to identify potential sites across Victoria to house its CO2 battery technology. This is set to boost long duration energy storage capacity, local supply chains and sustainability in Victoria’s local energy industry.

Established in Milan in 2020, Energy Dome is close to completing its full scale CO2 battery plant in Sardinia in addition to securing multiple commercial contracts for CO2 batteries to be deployed in the USA and India.

Economic Growth and Jobs Minister Danny Pearson celebrated the announcement, highlighting the positive impact the move will have.

“Victoria is open for business – Energy Dome calling Victoria home will bring world-leading technology to Melbourne, create more jobs for Victorians and contribute to our economic growth,” Pearson said.

Energy Dome chief executive Claudio Spadacini said he is excited to take his business to Victoria.

“Energy Dome has identified critical advantages in establishing our APAC team in Victoria to lead the deployment of the CO2 battery, and the Victorian Government’s support will enable us to accelerate our expansion in the state,” Spadacini said.

The Victorian state government has its sights set on a bright future, with a target to achieve net zero emissions by 2045.
