Vali two weeks from first gas

Vintage Vali-2 production

First gas at Vali-1 is expected later in February with Vintage Energy announcing the completion of construction and installation of its lease pad facilities.

The mechanical handover of facilities at Vali-1 to the commissioning contractor is complete, with purging of the system already underway ahead of the introduction of gas.

First gas is expected in seven to 12 days.

Construction at the two other well sites, Vali-2 and 3, is expected to be completed and handed over by early March.

Neil Gibbins, Managing Director of 50 per cent stakeholder Vintage Energy, said that the handover marks a major milestone for the Vali field.

“Vali is now one step away from first gas and with that the commencement of revenue generation. Our focus is firmly on executing commissioning safely and efficiently so Vali gas can start flowing to eastern Australia as soon as possible,” he said.

“We look forward to providing further updates on first gas, and the handover of the facilities at Vali-2 and Vali-3 in due course,” said Gibbins.

Managing Director of Metgasco, which holds 25 per cent of the project, celebrated that the project remains injury and environmental incident-free.

“Metgasco would like to thank the operations team of operator Vintage Energy and its key subcontractors on the excellent HSE project performance to date and look forward to the safe commissioning of Vali-1 and construction handover of Vali 2 and 3,” he said.
