With a total production capacity of about 2.6 Bcf of natural gas and 20,000 bbl/d of condensate, the Gorgon Project will be an important pillar of the Australian economy for decades to come.
“Together, Gorgon and Wheatstone will position Chevron as Australia’s largest LNG producer* and Australia as one of the world’s largest LNG exporters,”? Chevron Australia Managing Director Roy Krzywosinski said.
The Gorgon Upstream scope includes the design and construction of all wells and facilities to source gas from the Gorgon and Jansz-Io gas fields and transportation to the plant on Barrow Island.
Cool-down operations recently commenced for the project’s LNG export system, while Chevron Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Watson has said the project is making good progress.
Joint venture interests in the Gorgon Project include Chevron (operator, 47 per cent), ExxonMobil (25 per cent), Shell (25 per cent), Osaka Gas (1.25 per cent), Tokyo Gas (1 per cent), and Chubu Electric Power (0.417 per cent).
