Viva Energy has revealed artist renderings of the hydrogen mobility project the company is building at the Viva Energy Hub.
The project will feature publicly accessible hydrogen refuelling and EV charging stations for Geelong.
Viva Energy said the facility will support a diverse fleet of hydrogen-powered vehicles in road freight, public transport, municipal waste management, and more.
It will also offer ultra-fast EV charging in drive-through truck bays, suitable for BEVs coming to the market larger than a standard passenger car, the company added.
The project is backed by a $34 million grant from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and $1 million from the Victorian Government via the Renewable Hydrogen Commercialisation Pathways Fund.
Viva Energy said the project demonstrates the crucial roles hydrogen and EV charging together can play in decarbonising industries in Australia.
“Our hydrogen will be generated from renewable energy and recycled water, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of heavy vehicles,” the company concluded.
