Santos is working with Coded Contracting to deliver the Moomba Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) project, which plays a role in achieving large-scale emissions reductions.

In a video shared to Linked In, Santos said the project relies on local suppliers working together, including Wellsun Engineering and Mayfield Industries.

Adelaide-based Coded Contracting is a welding and fabrication business that specialises in pressure pipe welding and fabrication for oil and gas and mining industries.

“The Moomba CCS project is the largest pressure piping and welding project that we’ve tended for and won,” Coded Contracting director James Allen said.

“Working for Santos has meant that we’ve been able to upscale our business to employ more people and do some more highly skilled work, which is great for our apprentices and trainees.”

Allen praised Santos for choosing to work with local suppliers in South Australia.

“It’s great that Santos has invested in South Australia for the CCS project,” he said.

“It’s meant that workshops and businesses like ours can stay busy.

“It is going to help South Australia reduce its carbon emissions and we’re proud to be a part of that.”

The Moomba CCS project is set to be operational by 2024, after Santos reaffirmed its investment to carbon capture in 2020.
