WATCH: FPSO continues journey to Sangomar

Woodside Energy’s Léopold Sédar Senghor floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) facility is well on its way to Sangomar, Senegal’s first oil project.

The FPSO is continuing its 12,000 nautical mile journey from Singapore to Dakar and will arrive at the Woodside Energy-operated Sangomar, approximately 100km south of Dakar.

Named after Senegal’s first President, the FPSO is 372m in length, 58m in breadth, has a max accommodation of 140 people and a production capacity of 100,000 barrels.

The initial phase of the project is referred to as the Sangomar Field Development Phase 1 and will focus on developed the less complex reservoir units and testing other reservoirs to support gas export to shore.

Woodside is working with the Senegal Government to develop local capabilities, support training initiatives and organise capacity building sessions with Senegalese administration.

The Rufisque Offshore, Sangomar Offshore and Sangomar Deep Offshore joint venture comprises of Woodside and Societé des Petroles du Sénégal with both working towards the development of the Sangomar field.

Development of the Sangomar field first commenced in 2020 with first oil production targeted for 2024.
