Wood awarded study for Greater Sunrise Development

Wood Greater Sunrise Development

Consulting and engineering company Wood has been selected as the lead consultant for an independent study at the Woodside Energy-operated Greater Sunrise Development.

The Greater Sunrise fields, comprised of the Sunrise and Troubadour gas fields and part of the Sunrise joint venture (SJV), are located approximately 450km north-west of Darwin and 150km south of Timor Leste.

Wood will deliver a comprehensive concept study, considering engineering, technology, financing, commercial structures, fiscal, environmental, health and safety and socioeconomic drivers including local content.

The study will support the SJV to advance the development to the next stage and is on target for completion by no later than the fourth quarter of 2024.

“This is an important concept study for the Greater Sunrise Development,” Wood president of consulting Azad Hessamodini said.

“We are delighted to support and deliver the work at pace to ensure the SJV has the impartial insights to advance this regionally significant project.”

The SJV comprises of TIMOR GAP, 56.56 per cent, Woodside Energy 33.44 per cent and operator and Osaka Gas 10 per cent.

In April 2024, Woodside confirmed that the SJV and governments have continued to make progress towards agreeing a new production sharing contract, which will provide fiscal and regulatory certainty.
