Woodside Energy has awarded French-American oil and gas company TechnipFMC a contract for the Xena infill well, which will support ongoing production from the Pluto LNG project.
The contract consists of engineering, procurement, construction and installation where TechnipFMC will design, manufacture and install the subsea production system, flexible pipe and umbilicals for the well.
The award follows an integrated front end engineering design study and will use the company’s Subsea 2.0 production system.
Xena phase 3 will be tied back to existing subsea infrastructure previously supplied by TechnipFMC.
“We are proud to be delivering a fully integrated project from concept to execution,” TechnipFMC president subsea Jonathan Landes said.
“This project will help our long-term client meet their objectives, demonstrating the favourable impact iFEED, iEPCI, and Subsea 2.0 can have on project economics.”
The announcement follows engineering company KBR being awarded an engineering, procurement and construction management contract by Woodside Energy for the Pluto LNG facility.
The Pluto LNG facility, located near Karratha, Western Australia (WA), processes gas from the offshore Pluto and Xena gas fields in the state.
The Scarborough field is located approximately 375km off the coast of WA and includes the installation of a floating production unit with eight wells drilled in the initial phase and thirteen wells drilled over the life of the field.
