Woodside renews Pyrenees facility operations

Esso receives environmental approval to commence Turrum Phase 3 drilling

NOPSEMA has accepted Woodside Energy’s 5-year environment plan revision for the Pyrenees facility operations.

The Pyrenees facility commenced operation in 2010 and is located in Commonwealth waters approximately 45km northwest of Exmouth in Western Australia. The water depth at the FPSO mooring location is approximately 200m with wells located in water depths up to 213m.

The facility is located in production permits WA-42-L and WA-43-L and currently produces oil from the Ravensworth, Crosby, Stickle, Tanglehead, Wild Bull and Moondyne reservoirs via a single stand-alone floating production, storage and offloading vessel.

The facility is comprised of the FPSO vessel, processing and separation facilities (for oil, water and gas), gas compression facilities and associated subsea infrastructure. Under normal operations, surplus gas and produced water is disposed by reinjection back into the reservoir. After processing, the stabilised crude oil is offloaded to trading tankers for export.

The activities proposed to occur within production permits WA-42-L and WA-43-L include:
• Routine production of crude oil and gas
• Routine and non-routine operations of the Pyrenees FPSO and associated subsea infrastructure.
• Routine injection of gas to the Macedon-6 injection well, which is maintained and operated under the Macedon Operations Environment Plan.
• Routine and non-routine inspection, monitoring, maintenance and repair (IMMR) of the Pyrenees FPSO and associated subsea infrastructure.
• Disconnection and sail-away of the FPSO with the disconnectable turret mooring (DTM) and subsea infrastructure remaining in place.

Pyrenees Facility Operations will operate 24 hours a day for the 5-year duration.
